Åge Holmestad

Holmestad graduated from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, NTNU (formerly known as NTH), in 1970. In the early eighties he took on his first role within Moelven Limtre, which specializes in producing glulam products and structures. During his years as project developer, technical director and CEO for Moelven Limtre, he has contributed to many landmark and world record breaking projects in Norway.

Holmestad spearheaded the development of the glulam technology that was a vital part of the construction of venues for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. He also oversaw the development of glulam brigdes for Moelven, and was the project leader delivering glulam structures for the new Oslo Airport at Gardermoen.

In 2014, Holmstad led the Moelven team during the development of Treet in Bergen, which at the time was the tallest timber building in Norway. That experience would prove beneficial just a few years later, when Moelven constructed and built Mjøstårnet, which would set a record in 2019 as the tallest timber building in the world. The same year, Holmestad was responsible for delivering the glulam structures for the The Financial Park Offices in Stavanger  which was awarded The Building of the Year prize in Norway.
